Comparing the original photograph to the illustrated one
Three worlds in one image
Unesp is one of the three public universities in São Paulo state. It used to publish an annual guide to present its more than 60 courses. To emphasize that science results from hard work, I suggested making all illustrations with hands, and the cover should not be different. Here each hand represents a branch of knowledge and they are grasping each other, showing that all sciences are interconnected and together result in a solid body.
Step by step creation of the illustrations

The line
The drawings were created with vector lines that make up the composition.

The color
The colors are added below the line, defining the objects and the materials they are made of.

The texture
The texture, lights, and shadows are later added to the illustration, creating volume and realism.
