Comparing the original photograph to the illustrated one
Three worlds in one image
Unesp is one of the three public universities of São Paulo. It used to publish an annual guide to present their more than 60 courses. To enphasize the idea that science is the result of hard work I suggested making all illustrations with hands and the cover should not be different. Here each hand represents a branch of knowledge and they are grasping each other, showing that the sciences are all interconnected and toghether result in a solid body.
Step by step creation of the illustrations

The line
The drawings are created with vectorial lines that make up the composition.

The color
The colors are added below the line, defining the objects and the materials they are made of.

The texture
The texture, lights and shadows are added to the illustration, creating volume and realism.
